General ASB member applications for 2020-21 are closed. Thank you to everyone who applied and if you did not get the chance, we hope to see you next year.

How does the application process work?

The personality and success of our ASB class largely depend on the individual members. As such, we put a lot of time and effort into the application process and creating our class. An interview council composed of seniors are chosen based on the interviewers’ diverse perspectives and commitment to the ASB program. Once you have submitted your application, it will be read anonymously (your name isn’t on it) by the Interview Council.  Each interviewer then evaluates your application based on a number of criteria, including leadership experience & potential, a balance of character & activities, vision, and written communication.

Once you have submitted your application, you will be contacted for an in-person interview with the entire Interview Council. The interview will be approximately 15 minutes and is an opportunity for you to express yourself in a non-paper format. Like the written application, the interview is evaluated based on your responsibility, organization, & time management, your perseverance, your interpersonal communication & articulation, and the “3 Cs” (character, creativity, and curiosity).

Once the Interview Council has evaluated all of the written applications as well as the in-person interviews, the two evaluations are combined for each person. The entire decision process is largely a numerical (and, for the written application, anonymous) process. We have used the numerical evaluation method for the past couple of years and have found it to be very successful and a great way to create a hard-working and cohesive ASB.
